Description The name mallow comes from the latin, malva, meaning soft and emollient, reflecting the feel and properties of the leaves. The common mallow, as the name suggests, is a prolific plant found throughout Europe, western Asia and North America. It grows wild in dry meadows and pastures, on wasteland and by the side of roads, it flowers from June through to September. Although, like the Marsh Mallow, the Common Mallow is best known for its medicinal properties soothing the throat and chest, it also has the ability to soothe rough and dry skin.
